ROMBO

My favourite two Italians - Bobby Rifo and Tommy Tea, also known as The Bloody Beetroots, have done it again. With the new release of their Rombo EP, comes a row of killer party tunes. With their Punk-influenced Electro-House, few can compete with Bloody Beetroots when it comes to really bringing music to its absolute edge. What more can I say? I mean.. I Love The Bloody Beetroots.

TIME TO GET THE PARTY STARTED

in the far north of Europe, where the all the authors of this blog currently lives and belongs, summer is over. no more shorts, t-shirts and late BBQ-nights half-naked. no more tan, no more sunglasses.
so? with winter darker times will come and thus more time for the serious business. it is time to get the blog party started.

dior homme's fashion shows are famous. not just for the brand itself, and for all hedi slimane has done for the brand the last years but for the music used in the show. usually in the genre of indie or rock, with artists like razorlight, the rakes and phoenix, justice steps in and does a dramatic electro thing, which is kickass. listen to them, they follow. listen again. it's cold, scary and so good.

SUPERDISCOUNT

Last Friday - the final day of Malmö Festival, live performing and wrapping up an overall dull festival were no other than Etienne De Crécy. So there I was, at the city square, filled with people, watching visuals that can compete with Daft Punk and dancing to the music which, literally – could start fires. This could been one of my best live-act experiences. So if you haven’t seen Etienne De Crécy live yet, I suggest you do just that. For now, get these tracks and go visit his MySpace to check out the video-clip of his live performance, then maybe you’ll get an idea of how it's done..

WHERE YOU GO I GO TOO

The Norwegian guys Prins Thomas and Lindstrøm are hot together when it comes to music. Lindstrøm proved this week that he's just as hot as a barbecue solo. His album consisting of only 3 tracks was released in the beginning of this week. 'Where You Go I Go Too' is the best I've heard in indie dance/nu disco department in a long time. It's perfect that the album only consists of so few tracks lasting together for 55 minutes, because you don't want the tracks to stop. First time I heard to album I just wanted to go for a car ride destination unknown.
Personally I'm seeing Prins Thomas playing at Blå in Oslo tomorrow. I'm expecting spacey disco and another hot solo.

Annie - The Wedding (Prins Thomas & Lindstrøm Remix)
(electronica, 2005)

Here's a taste of the album 'Where You Go I Go Too'. If you like you buy ;) This track is deliciously playful and delicate.

Lindstrøm - Grand Ideas (Original Mix)
(electronica, 2008)

Because it's been forever since the last post, here's a fantastic remix by another great Norwegian dj.

Metronomy - Heartbreaker (DiskJokke Remix)
(electronica, 2008)

And because it's weekend, I'm giving you a bonus remix. Kris Menace really worked the beats.

FESTIVALS AND MUSIC ON MY MIND

Sorry the lack of posts lately. Ive been busy attending Hovefestivalen and Oslo Live Festival here in Norway and enjoying great music.

This entry will never end if I’m suppose to tell you about all my latest concert experiences. Instead I’ll share with you a couple of songs from my favorite concerts.

Familjen was one of the best concerts at Hove this year in my opinion. Dizzie Rascal had to cancel their concert at Oslo Live, instead Adam Tensta stepped in. Not a bad replacement.

Familjen feat Adam Tensta - Huvudet i sanden

(electronica, 2008)

I was working at the bar when Goldfrapp performed at Hove. I did get to hear A&E live though, and it sounded epic. Here’s one of the best remixes. And a bonus one from Hercules & Love Affair because they put on a great show at Hove.

Goldfrapp - A&E (Gui Boratto Remix)
(electronica, 2008 )

Goldfrapp - A&E (Hercules & Love Affair Remix)

(electronica, 2008)

Surkin was too cute on the mix table and made my first night at Hove. You’ve probably already heard ’Next Of Kin’ and ’White Knight’. If you like them, then you’ll definately like the remix of the first and the sequel of the latter.

Surkin - Next of Kin (Todd Edwards Re-Kindled Mix)

(electronica, 2008)

Surkin - White Knight Two
(electronica/dance, 2008)

Justice pulled an audience of almost 10 000 people at the first day of Oslo Live. MSTRKRFT played a great set at Hove. Steve Aoki never came to Norway as planned, but here’s the whole package.

Steve Aoki - D.A.N.C.E (MSTRKRFT Remix With Justice)
(electronica, 2008)

Sebastien Tellier is probably the coolest frenchie in the whole wide world. His show at Oslo Live was hilarous. He mostly performed the songs about his sexuality and his "fat and ugly mother", as he nicely put it. I personally prefer this remix of the Eurovision hit.

Sebastien Tellier - Divine (Danger Remix)
(electronica, 2008)

The Norwegian Datarock boys ended my festival summer for now. Datarock is highly recommended live. I missed Skatebård during Hove and a club night during Oslo Live. Too bad, because he’s good italo-disco shit.

Datarock - Fa Fa Fa (Skatebård Remix)
(electronica, 2007)

Datarock - Fa Fa Fa (Miami Horror Remix)

UNA CERVEZA, POR FAVOR?

half of househouse is in barcelona now enjoying great electronic music on the clubs, and will do during the coming month, hence the lack of updates.

anyway, barcelona is great and yesterday we went to a great restaurant called 'carpe diem' - an extremely loungy athomsphere with a great dj along with great food and service.

well, as this blog unfortunately is neither about food nor wine i just wanted to say that the last song of the evening the french dj played was 'jupiter calling' by thomas schwartz. that italian progressive house producer is amazing. amazing! this is a chill-out progressive tune and i just want to give it to all of whom missed it:

THE LONGEST ROAD

this song has been around quite a lot lately. from morgan page; an electronica/house producer from california and lissie on vocals magic happend. most famous is probably the remix by deadmau5 which is a mellow and great progressive tune. my friend, martin nowakowski, also did a rhumba-style remix on it, and now recently a mashup between the original song and adam k's twilight was brought into daylight.

i present to you all of them great songs:

RANDOM MUSIC

hey peeps. on my way on the train from stockholm to oslo yesterday i met a stranger with some great electronic music. josef (his name) had bought a macbook recently and had very little music on it, so we did some intranetwork-exchange of music to extend his library. and mine. found loads of music i already had, because we had the same taste in music, but also music new to me. here i present to you some of them. first out a cool mashup between the german duo booka shade's classic song 'in white rooms' and an acapella from the australian electrogroup 'vandalism'. next out are producers behind the recently hyped song 'jeopardy', which is also great. after that the classic of steve angello - 'klack' and at last eric prydz remix on depeche mode which i never heard before:

MINILOGUE

this is great but weird ambient music. minilogue consists of the two swedish rather unknown artists 'trimatic' and 'son kite'. they are probably soon or already 30 years old and have some years in the music business. their album 'animals' was released almost a month ago, an album consisting of two cds. one named 'ambient' and the other named 'dance'. although i see the difference between the cds, i wouldn't say dance to either of them. the music is experimentally ambient techno/electronica, sort of. some songs sound similar to the ancient electronic producer 'aphex twin', which is quite a compliment. i give you three songs here, the first being from the ambient-cd, the second from the dance-related one and the last from 'aphex twin'. they are all amazing:

GUAGLIONE 2008

found this track on beatport's top 10 and found it amusing. although, i feel that it could be even better. as im not a qualified producer, i can't do anything about it. will just have to wait until someone else does it. anyways, the producers are totally unknown to me, and i can't seem to find any information about him/them/her? although the remixer, alex gaudino, is an italian dj who did the famous mashup 'destination calabria' of the dj rune rk's track 'calabria' from -03 and crystal waters from -04 named 'destination unknown'.

anyways, in this song you find no cheesy vocals. it's a good song really. really:

JOHN DAHLBÄCK

john dahlbäck, born in -85 outside stockholm, sweden, has with his own productions under the label 'pickadoll' sure made his statement in the world of electronic music. he comes from a family of people in the music business, and im glad he went the same way. last week 'pyramid' was released on beatport, and almost every week something is released connected to him. own productions, remixes on other artists or other artists using his music in their mixes. he is sure acknowledged among us all. i give to you the recently released track, one to be released soon and some tracks from 'winners & fools':

SAXOPHONES, SEX & ELECTRO

during summer life is much more random than otherwise and structure does not seem to exist. hence the blog is updated during the whole summer but it isn't until september that the real business begins. wellwell, here we go:

found three great tracks for today. first a classic house tune containing much saxophones which is always niiice. found out that dub deluxe is a project from the two guys behing sunloverz who want to do something else than the typical melodic vocal house that they produce otherwise. the second track is a rip of a remix justice made on a song by the brooklynband mgmt (earlier the management). the last song is a amazing progressive tune by italian schwartz found on housemusicwithlove.

GIVE ME A M

Sometimes I'm too caught up in the french house scene to notice all the other goodies out there. But recently I discovered a German named MMMatthias. So far he has remixed Coldplay, Sigur Ros, MGMT, Santogold and RATATAT, along with a couple of his own tunes.

The Coldplay remix is definately one of my favorites. It's hard, filled with heavy basses and builds up the tension just the way I like it.

Coldplay - Death And All His Friends (MMMatthias Remix)
(electronica, 2008)

His well build beats are growing quickly on me. This ear candy kind of taste like rich and sizzling chocolate on your tounge. Feed yourself with some MMMatthias tunes and they might grow on you too!

MGMT - The Youth (MMMatthias Remix)

Sigur Ros - Saeglopur (MMMatthias Remix)

Well I think that technology and music have always been together and I think music is science anyway

The titel is quote from Vangelis from 1988.

Vangelis is a greek composer born in 1943. He’s one of the pioneers in making electronic music and started composing at the age of four. He is ofted said to avoid publicity, and to rather focus on his next artistic creation.

ERIC PRYDZ

eric prydz, a swedish guy born -79 is one of the most hyped electronic producers today. songs are stolen, rips from livesets uploaded almost instantly and many of his tracks reach top ten on beatport. the hype around 'miami atlanta' has been immense as well as for the tracks 'pjanoo' and 'f12' released recently.

commercially he got famous for 'call on me' with the dirty music video being even more famous than himself as an artist. he uses several pseudonyms when producing; pryda, eric prydz, cirez d, moo and sheridan. each name recognised for different styles of music. in my opinion pryda is the best. here i give you a mashup of pjanoo and an acapella along with another mashup with white stripes and an oldie. that white stripes track is "sung" by every swedish fotball fan during the uefa european fotball championship games now occuring. why? no idea.

MELODIES & DESIRES

Swedish, young, cute and on everyone's lips the last months... You probably know who I'm talking about. Yup, the adorable and charismatic Lykke Li. It's hard not to be fascinated by her cute voice, the bittersweet lyrics and the dreamy disco melodies.

Lykke Li's debut album stands out from the pop crowd. And when all the cool guys decide to remix her songs, it just gets better.

The Fred Falke remix has been everywhere on the electronica blog scene, but it's too good to miss. Lykke Li is good. Fred Falke is great. Metronomy and Black Kids also catched the wave and did a remix of the same single, which by the way was recently released in the UK.

THE DON

Don Rimini has as so many other DJ’s started out by just spinning records at young age and then after learning the art of music went over to produce his own. The 31 year-old from Paris, France, has he really “bloomed” and release a several EP’s and with his underground-Brooklyn inspired ‘Electro House’ he really heats up the dance floor. Now in June his third EP in order will hit the market, and therefore while patiently wating I present to you some of his greatest works. So don’t just stand there – Bust a Move!

NIGHTDRIVE WITH ANORAAK

The multitalent in the Valerie family is called Anoraak. He writes these catchy pop songs, fills them with retro beats and finish them up with his own voice. All his songs have the 80s touch that's hard to resist.

The Fast Life described him as:
"A storyteller.
A composer.
An A++."

Very accurate indeed. I'm giving you two of his stories for now. They are the ultimate nightdrive songs, and I'm not referring to the first title, but the perfect mood for a drive by night.

Anoorak - Nightdrive With You

(electronica/pop, 2008)

Anoraak - NERD (Never Ending Romance Disaster)
(electronica/pop, 2008)

Anoraak recently joined the fabulous No Love Lost Records wagon and he certainly got the wheels rolling. No offence to the other DJs, but his NLLR mix is one of the best yet. Loving the tracklist. Actually he had me at Boards Of Canada...

MAKING MUSIC LAST

Love these songs. Feels like summer nights will last forever...

Born and raised in the US, Dj DLG started his music career in late 80ies. First release in the name Dj DLG was in 2002. Many choose to call his music disco-house or electro house.

(Trance, 2007)

New Zealand based producer and Dj, Luke Walker released his first track in 2005 and this has been called ‘a perfectly produced blend of heavy duty techno, electro, house and breaks’.

This track is as good as it gets,
