NIGHTDRIVE WITH ANORAAK

The multitalent in the Valerie family is called Anoraak. He writes these catchy pop songs, fills them with retro beats and finish them up with his own voice. All his songs have the 80s touch that's hard to resist.

The Fast Life described him as:
"A storyteller.
A composer.
An A++."

Very accurate indeed. I'm giving you two of his stories for now. They are the ultimate nightdrive songs, and I'm not referring to the first title, but the perfect mood for a drive by night.

(electronica/pop, 2008)

Anoraak - NERD (Never Ending Romance Disaster)
(electronica/pop, 2008)

Anoraak recently joined the fabulous No Love Lost Records wagon and he certainly got the wheels rolling. No offence to the other DJs, but his NLLR mix is one of the best yet. Loving the tracklist. Actually he had me at Boards Of Canada...

THE ONLY THING WE NEED TO KNOW

Stéphane Pompougnac,

French house DJ, born i Paris. You might recognize his name from the Hôtel Costes compilations. Pompougnac started playing in the mid 80-ies. He plays at Hôtel Costes where all celebrities go when in Paris, as well as for various fashion shows (read: Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci…). Don’t know if I like this song or not, but I do like the beat appearing in 1:11.
And I kind of like the way he says “Broadway on the Champs-Élysées”.

Stéphane Pompougnac - Living on the Edge
(Chill-out, from the album with the same name living on the edge, released in 2003.)

For slacker summer days,

TRIPLE FORCE

What do you get when the owner of the house label "Work It Baby" and "Compuphonic" decides to work with an electro DJ and record producer from Chicago and one of the hottest French producers of today? You get the collaboration of three individuals of the modern music; Kris Menace, Felix Da Housecat and Fred Falke. Triple talent!

The result is Falke's signature beachy bass lines meshed with a bunch of spacey synths mixed all together to something 'Artificial'.

The single is newly released and steaming hot. It made my day so artificial hot that I just wanted to pile into a pool of ice cubes.

Kris Menace feat Felix Da House & Fred Falke - Artificial
(house, 2008) (low bitrate)

This is their first time working all three together (and we're hoping it's not the last!), but it's not the very first time they've teamed up or touched each others tunes.

Kris Menace feat Fred Falke - Fairlight
(progressive house, 2007)

Felix Da Housecat - Something 4 Porno (Kris Menace Remix)
(trance, 2007)

Now we're just waiting for Fred Falke and Felix Da Housecat to mix something up.

Sprinkle sprinkle.

PURE LIFELIKE

Lifelike is starting his USA tour with Alan Braxe this upcoming weekend. Despite the lovely summer that just started here in Norway, I wouldn't mind clubbing at Studio B in NYC this Saturday either. I guess I'm not the only one. Which sane person on earth would pass the chance to see these French guys live doing what they do the best? What do they do the best you ask? French house music, duh!

Since some of us still have exams and don't own a private jet, we're stuck in Scandinavia/insert your home. No need to cry though, we still have their frenchtastic mp3s to get through the summer days.

Here are a couple (uhm) of my favorites by Lifelike.
Some old, some new, mostly remixes - but all very good!

Heartache - Don’t Stop (Lifelike Remix)
(house, 2008)

Geyster - Under The Fuse Of Love (Lifelike Remix)
(house, 2008)

Supermal - Light Years (Lifelike Discopolis Remix)
(house, 2008)

3 Cazals - Somebody Somewhere (Lifelike Remix)
(house, 2008)

Lifelike - So Electric
(house, 2007)

Ercola feat Annie - Follow Me (Lifelike Remix)
(house, 2007)

Lifelike & Kris Menace - Discopolis (Alan Braxe Remix)
(house, 2005)

Lifelike - Running Out
(house, 2005)

Aloya - It's Been Too Long (Lifelike Top Gun Remix)
(house, 2005)

Lifelike - The Cult
(house, 2002)
